Emotions

I'm having a bit of a rough night... thankfully, the days are getting a little better, but for some reason today's been worse. Having one of those poor-pity-me evenings... you know, when you don't feel like you can ever do anything right?

So, let's see, here are some general thoughts I've had today:

Why am I here again? I mean... alone. What is my problem? Why can't I seem to get it right?

Thank God that Mia hasn't been asking about Scott. Not in a few days, anyway, so that has been a little comforting. I know she will say something at some point, but I'm just glad she isn't for now. That's right. She'll get over him, too. Frankly, I can't wait, because I think he was a real asshole how he ended things.

The whole thing still makes me completely sick to my stomach. And angry. And sad. And, I'm trying to work through it... because, well, I have to. So, this is just another general vent about the whole situation.

On the other hand, let's see... Lil M is just as sweet as ever. I already posted the pics from today. I think her wanting to sit in her swing tonight (for the first time in months) was kind of what brought up some of these emotions for me. He bought her that swing... at the same time. It is just a swing. And I'm trying to take the emotional part away from it, because it isn't worth all that effort.

On the potty front... she's been doing well. She had a daytime accident for the first time in MONTHS the other day, but it was the only one. It was just a little accident. Overnight, she's been doing well, too. She had two wet nights this week, so far, so that's not too bad. :) I know she "gets it" mostly... and it's going to take time to be 100% dry. I actually think she's doing great!

Now, let's hope for another dry night and no talking about you-know-who anytime soon. Oh, and sleep. I slept for crap last night. :( I really need to get back on track with that. I haven't been doing so well for awhile now, and this situation hasn't made it any better. So, here's to less stress and more sleep.

Peace.

Bets on dryness

Anyone wanna take some bets on how many nights (starting tonight) Lil M can go without being wet in the morning? Or shall I say... dry nights?!

Her longest that I've officially counted was 3 out of 4... and I'm going to count all this week.... might even have to get her something special if she can go more than 4 days straight!

I have Meow and Monkey sitting here with me... Lil M is sleeping... I get to be the keeper tonight of her favorite animals. I need them. It's been a long day.

Peace.

WFMW - Potty Training

I've read posts and suggestions for how to handle over-night potty issues while potty training little ones. One person suggested layering the bed with a plastic sheet, then a cloth sheet, then plastic then cloth... then you could take one layer off at a time (even overnight) if you needed to. If it comes to that, I'll try that!!

But for me, what works for now is to put those plastic covered portable diaper pads under her sheet. (you know those that you got to lay your baby on when you go out)... I lay 2 of those in the spot where Lil M sleeps, under the sheet. If she moved around more, I'd put more under the sheet. Thankfully, she doesn't. :) Since I have a few of those pads, and they seem to work just as well as if i had bought some type of plastic sheet for the bed, that's what we use! :) And they're a bit cushy too...

Then, in the morning, I take the sheet off and wipe the plastic diaper pads off with Lysol and remake the bed.

We are not currently using pull-ups or diapers at night. I did put plastic pants on her last night... that helps a bit, too. :)

So, that's what works for me!! :) Go check out the other ideas at We are THAT Family!

Peace.

day 2

Today is day 2 that Lil M is in big girl pants for daycare... she had a couple of accidents last night, of course, but she's doing really well with the potty training overall. She's moving forward, but I do realize that she's not 100% ready to be diaper-free... at night is a given, but even maybe during the day or evening... so, well, we're working on it. :)

Peace.

Progress

Yesterday was the FIRST day that Lil M went potty at daycare on the big-girl potty!! She went once. Today, she went twice! One real time, and once after she had gone a tiny bit in her diaper (she still went on the potty, too). Progress!!! :) This morning and tonight she told me she wanted to go potty. Just a couple of minutes ago, in fact, and it took her just a few seconds to actually go. Progress!!! :) She was 2 years and 5 months old 2 days ago, too. If anyone is counting. ;-)

Oh, and I just got my taxes done. WOOT. God, I need the money. One thing I *cannot* stand is being broke all the time.

Peace.

Potty

Yes, I actually named this post 'potty'. Between the dogs, cat and Lil M... well, and me, there's a lot of pottying going on at the house. *snort*

Manna, for instance, has been going pee in the box SO much lately. So, when we went for her check-up last night at the vet, he said he'd make sure to check her kidneys. She's got hyper-thyroidism and is on meds twice a day. She gained 1/2 a pound, and is at 7lbs now!! Woot. However, she's throwing up a lot these days, and going to the box a LOT. The vet bill last night was -gasp- $317! They prescribed 6 months of her pills for me... but still. Anyone who doesn't think their pets aren't expensive are nuts. I don't care, really, about the cost. I'd pay whatever I can... but it is getting pretty expensive.

I've been sitting Lil M on her potty every day, in the evenings, for probably 2 months now. This past week or so, I've been sitting her on it first thing in the mornings, too. And she now says "I did it!" when she goes on the potty. Last night she was real quick, even. She sat for less than 5 minutes. (before, it was 15 min or more, sometimes) This morning and yesterday she went pee and poo. Very good. We're not to the stage where she tells me she's got to go, but it'll be cool when she can/does.

The pups are doing pretty good, too. Boy, do they know how to stare me down when they have to go out! lol. I've had to watch Skippy more, because if I'm not in the room, he doesn't signal me and has had a couple of accidents. Maggi...well, she's just a smart dog!!! Seriously, she is. If she didn't bark, she'd be perfect. But, I'm trying to deal with it, 'cause she's just a sweetie. They all are.

I'm blessed.

Peace.

Potty and other news

So, Lil M is sort of starting to potty train. I put her on the potty every night, and they do at daycare too. This is new territory for us. I'm just taking it slow and getting her used to the idea. She's peed on it several times and poo'ed a couple. She usually does pretty well, and sits there quite willingly. Other times, she cries. That makes me feel bad.

On another note, she likes to put her babies to sleep (nigh nigh)... she does this with the dogs (dog dogs) and even Mommy sometimes. She has gotten quite attached to her stuffed kitty (Meow) and has tried to take it with us in the car a couple of times to daycare now. I haven't let her, because I don't want her to lose Meow. I'm wondering how this attachment is going to progress.

Speaking of attachment... we are at the stage where Lil M likes to make sure Mommy is very near and she checks back with me often. She does show some anxiety when there is a loud noise (TV or otherwise) that startles her. She runs to me and looks anxious. But she seems to calm down almost instantly. When I get to daycare she always yells "My Mommy" if another child comes close to me. She did this at the hair salon the other night, too. She definitely doesn't seem to want to go to others she doesn't know... and I'm actually thankful of that. I've heard where children sometimes aren't picky and will go to anyone, and that ..to me...quite frankly, is scary.

I'm trying to decide when we are going to move to a big-girl (toddler) bed. I don't think she's ready, but will be in the next few months. She's 26 months old, and I think she's progressing quite well. We haven't been working as much yet on numbers and colors, but I'm going to get to that here soon. I periodically check my baby books to see where she should be at a given age, and she seems to be pretty close to what they consider the norm.

Days like today, I'm happy I'm the one who gets to make the decisions of how fast or slow we are going with potty and toddler beds and such. Other days aren't so easy, but it's been an amazing journey. There is always, absolutely more to do than can get done in a given day... especially with chores!! I've been trying to de-clutter, and have not quite conquered that yet. But I'm working on it. One day at a time. :)

Peace.
