Advice or Poll

I need some advice. This is sort of work related... but was hoping someone could help me!!! LOL.

How do you get...

1. new people you work with to understand how smart you are (besides waiting for them to figure it out)?

2. someone to come off their high horse and realize the team they have is valuable?

3. 'faster to market', 'higher quality' AND 'cut costs' at the same time? Isn't is really two of the three at any given time?? How do you get people to understand this concept, or rather, misconception?

4. your 14 month old to eat sweet potatoes after they LIKED them a week ago, but want nothing to do with them now?

Peace.

    1. new people you work with to understand how smart you are (besides waiting for them to figure it out)?

A: Ask to assist them on one of their projects because you find it interesting. Then work your butt off and be sure to acknowledge their lead role. Then ask them to assist you on a project to better present your leadership qualities.

    2. someone to come off their high horse and realize the team they have is valuable?

A: Once again, acknowledge their leadership role and then demonstrate teamwork by bringing the project ahead of schedule and under budget. Role model.

    3. 'faster to market', 'higher quality' AND 'cut costs' at the same time? Isn't is really two of the three at any given time?? How do you get people to understand this concept, or rather, misconception?

A: Become familiar with Six Sigma. Find someone in the industry or workplace willing to advance your understanding in this field. Become comfortable with the tools and ask to assist them on a Green Belt or Black Belt project.

    4. your 14 month old to eat sweet potatoes after they LIKED them a week ago, but want nothing to do with them now?

A: Check out the book: Deceptively Delicious

listen a lot. Most people think the listeners who say insightful things to be very smart. Also if you echo back their ideas, they'll usually think you are pretty smart. (hehe)

Start complimenting your coworkers. Phrases like "gosh amy is so good at xxx last time that happened and amy wasn't around, this is what happened....

Ask for a priority. Faster? Then identify how much that will cost. Higher Quality- include how much longer a less quality option will take. It's like offering to a 2 year old. You don't offer open ended questions, you offer choices.

offer again next week. she might change her mind. btw Kate eats some things only when she is REALLY hungry or it's the best choice on the plate. So compared to a cupcake its a NO. compared to liver or turkey its a YES!!
and at daycare, she eats a lot more variety because they give her less quantity than me, and she learns that food is very scheduled there.
I don't sweat it much. I was told to look at what she eats in a week, not in a meal for nutrition.
and i love deceptively delicious too.
